Overview

Plowboy Landscapes partnered with Vernon Construction and Arris Studio to provide commercial landscape construction and installation for the El Prado Hotel renovation in Downtown Santa Barbara. The project focused on modern irrigation system installation, live rooftop landscaping, and signature planting features, and a full landscape lighting package.

What We Did

Irrigation Overhaul

Installed a new, efficient system to support sustainable water management.

Commercial Green Roof Installation

Added a 500-square-foot Live Roof on the third-floor patio to improve aesthetics and environmental performance.

Roof Terrace Landscaping

Installed potted plants with lightweight planter soil to enhance rooftop gathering spaces.

Raised Planters

Integrated raised planters throughout common areas for visual appeal and functionality.

Palm Grove Creation

Installed a signature palm grove inspired by Palm Springs’ iconic landscapes, as designed by the Landscape Architects.

The Result

The El Prado Hotel now features a vibrant, sustainable commercial landscape that blends luxury with functionality. From the rooftop’s Live Roof to the iconic palm grove, the improvements enhance guest experience while simplifying long-term landscape maintenance.
